Cave St Jean de Minervois

St Jean is a small village in Herault on the border of the Parc National Haut Languedoc. Sitting on a limestone plateau, the land is covered with broken white stone interspersed with vines.

To the east, in the direction of St Pons, is the garrigue with it’s green oaks covering the hillsides. The Montagne noir are in the background whilst to the west are the Pyrenees and the Spanish border.

The appellation of St jean dates from 1949. As with all muscat, the picking is all done by hand, and is usually undertaken quite late to allow the fruit to ripen longer.  With it’s higher altitude and well drained soils,  delicate yet complex wines are produced.
